A Powerful Remedy Against Depression
You may have heard of the power of gratitude.
A great deal of research has shown gratitude is a powerful antidote against depression.
Did you know that gratitude and appreciation were also crucial elements in the success of a marriage ?
Being grateful impacts your immune and hormonal system and makes you be healthier and happier.
However, to be grateful isn't a natural state.
For evolutionary reasons, it's easier for our brains to focus on what's missing, rather than seeing what we already have.
So we need to cultivate our sense of gratitude on a daily basis until it becomes our default.
How can we do that ?
I personally use guided meditation, and I've always encouraged all my clients to do so.
You can also keep a gratitude journal. Every day writing 3 things you feel grateful for every day before going to sleep or when waking up.
You can also get into the habit to take a moment before eating to thank everyone who allowed the food to be present on the table.
